Lumo sponsorship for six athletes and two teams, 50 grants for supporting young athletes

Kojamo plc Press release 13 December 2019

Kojamo has selected the individual athletes and sports club teams for the sponsorship collaboration programme of the year 2020.

Next year’s six Lumo athletes are Oliver Helander (javelin), Anita Korva (cross-country skiing), Henry Manni (wheelchair racing), Oskari Mörö (400m hurdles), Nooralotta Neziri (100m hurdles) and Emmi Parkkisenniemi (snowboarding). The OVO Gymnastics club’s women’s first team OVO Team and the OVO Junior Team were selected as the team sponsorship partners.

Launched in 2012, the sponsorship and grant programme promotes wellbeing through physical activity by granting support to young, promising athletes.

The aim of long-term sponsorship is to provide the athletes with an opportunity to focus on their objectives in order to achieve success in sports. Both Nooralotta Neziri and Henry Manni have been in the sponsorship programme since the beginning. Long-term cooperation creates results for both the athlete and the sponsoring company. For example, the sponsorship enables the athletes to go to sports camps and on trips, which can have a positive influence on the athletes’ success at major games.

Lumo grants to support hobbies

Lumo grants are awarded twice a year to 12–20-year-old athletes who show commitment to training and a passion for success to encourage them in their sporting careers. The grants are available to any promising young athletes who have already engaged in active sports as a member of a sports club for several years and who need financial support for their hobby. Lumo’s and VVO’s tenants are given priority in the selection. Grants are awarded for both team and individual sports twice a year. In 2019, grants were awarded to 50 young athletes in total.
