My Lumo has been one of the most interesting projects for Miko Parkkinen. “One of the best aspects of this job has been the great reception the service has got from our tenants,” Miko explains.

Miko Parkkinen joined Kojamo in 2017 as a summer worker in software development. Having since completed his degree in computer engineering, he is now employed by Kojamo as an application developer. Miko’s job description includes the development and maintenance of various industry applications as well as the design and implementation of new projects, such as the My Lumo service.

After his first stint with the company in 2017, Miko wrote his thesis for Kojamo, was hired as an intern and then again as a summer worker before he became a permanent employee in the autumn 2018.

The courage to change is part of daily work

Miko has found his job interesting and enjoys the constant opportunities for professional development it provides. “I started with easier projects and moved on to more challenging ones as my skills improved,” Miko says.

Miko is now done with his studies, but he still feels it is important to keep honing his skills: “You have to be prepared to learn new techniques and develop your skills to keep up with progress in your field. I’ve even read a couple of coding books during my time here,” he adds.

Kojamo combines a relaxed atmosphere with an ambitious attitude towards development

“Kojamo is a good place to work. We have a warm atmosphere and a positive team spirit.”

Miko characterises the atmosphere at Kojamo as relaxed, but there is also a sense of moving forward and an emphasis on renewal and development. The managerial work has also been effective. The employees have a certain degree of freedom, but the company also expects a lot from them.

“When you think of a real estate company, you might not think of application developers. However, Kojamo has given me the chance to work on very cool and interesting projects whose benefits are directly felt in the daily lives of tenants.”
