The architectural design competition for Agricolankatu 1–3 aims to integrate new high-quality architecture into an old building
Kojamo plc is organising an invitation for an architectural design competition for a new extension to a building and plot that Kojamo’s owns at Agricolankatu 1–3, Torkkelinmäki, Helsinki.
The invitation is for a competition that aims to find a solution that integrates modern sustainable living solutions into an existing building in the best way possible. Following the renovation, the unique building at Agricolankatu 1–3 will be ready to offer over 100 high-quality apartments to residents of Helsinki who wish to enjoy the best in ur-ban housing. The building will also be designed to suit business premises, which will enrich Kallio by offering restaurant or cultural services, for example.
The aim of the competition is to present a high-quality concept plan for the new con-struction of Agricolankatu and, in particular, for its facade solutions and materials that are suitable for the urban environment and are based on the approved city plan that was approved by Helsinki City Council on 20 January 2021. The competition will en-sure that the new part of the building is architecturally high in quality and that it is seamlessly integrated into the old building and the prestigious urban environment of Torkkelinmäki.
Three architectural agencies were invited to participate in the competition: JKMM Ark-kitehdit Oy, Anttinen Oiva Arkkitehdit Oy and Inaro Oy.
The deadline for the submission of proposals for the design competition is 5 March 2021 at 3 p.m. After the deadline, the members of the panel appointed by the city and Kojamo plc will select the best proposal to serve as the basis for the construction planning.
