Kojamo plc’s Annual Report including sustainability report for 2020 has been published
Kojamo has published its Annual Report for 2020 including the company’s sustainability report. We were able to create sustainable growth despite of exceptional year. Our Annual Report offers information about Kojamo’s business operations, operating environment and strategy progress.
As a part of the Annual Report, we have published a sustainability report where we have described the progress of our sustainability work. The report marks the first time that we have applied the Core option of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). We also continue to report in accordance with the EPRA (European Public Real Estate Association) Sustainability Best Practices Recommendations. In the sustainability report we describe our sustainability work based on the focus areas of our new sustainability programme and publish our sustainability key figures for the first time. We also describe our sustainability commitments and targets in more detail in the report.
The Annual Report is published in a digital format and it is available at https://kojamo.fi/annualreport2020. In addition to the Annual Report, Kojamo’s Annual Report entity consists of the Board of Directors’ Report and Financial Statements, Corporate Governance Statement and Remuneration Report which were published on 18 February 2021 and which are available at the same address as well.
Development of sustainability in 2020
Year 2020 was significant for us what comes to proceeding with our sustainability work. In December we published our sustainability programme that also guides our sustainability reporting. Our sustainability programme is based on Kojamo’s strategy and vision to create better urban housing. With our sustainability programme we are committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and carbon-neutral energy consumption throughout our property portfolio by 2030.
We conducted a stakeholder survey and materiality analysis on sustainability to support the programme, and based on that we created the four sustainability focus areas: sustainable cities; the best customer experience; the most competent personnel and a dynamic place to work; and a responsible corporate citizen. The cornerstones of our sustainability programme are ensuring long-term profitability and growth; sustainable and responsible operations; and transparent communications and reporting on sustainability.
The most significant recognition of our sustainability work in 2020 was our success in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark’s (GRESB) sustainability assessment. We participated in the GRESB assessment for the first time and achieved a good score: 70 points out of 100. The score was above both the average score of our benchmark group and the average score for companies reporting for the first time. With our score we earned a Green Star designation and three stars out of five.
