The first cars of the car share scheme for Lumo homes hit the roads in 2015. At the moment, the residents of nearly 32,000 Lumo homes have the possibility to hop into a car either in their own neighbourhood or elsewhere in Finland. There are plenty of car models to choose from.
Lumo residents can now benefit from the innovative car share scheme developed by Kojamo and 24Rent: eco-efficient motoring as a part of living. Car sharing complements public transport and provides Lumo residents with an additional mobility option.
Car sharing provides freedom and ease of use
Lumo residents can already use a total of 28 cars in 24 locations in various parts of Finland. Anyone living in a Lumo home can reserve a shared car regardless of the location of the cars. There are both passenger cars and vans available, with self-charging hybrid vehicles as the latest addition.
There are many different cars to choose from, and using the car share scheme has been made as easy as possible.
“Car sharing makes everyday life easier, and residents also have the option to use a car on their holiday trips. For example, someone living in Helsinki may well need a car during their summer vacation in Kuopio,” says Pekka Kivistö, Customer Account Manager for Lumo homes.
Cars are already available in ten cities: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku, Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Oulu, Hämeenlinna and Lahti. Car sharing has sparked the most interest in Tampere, Helsinki and Vantaa, with the Lumo residents in these cities having used the cars the most.
Lumo residents drive ecologically and at affordable prices
Lumo offers its residents a two-hour test drive free of charge and residents can join the loyalty scheme of 24Rent. Cars are available around the clock and can be used at a price that is 30% below the standard rental prices.
The rental company, 24Rent, receives the reservations made by the Lumo residents and is responsible for the car-related operations.
“Reserving a car online is easy, and customers don’t have to worry about car maintenance or having an insurance policy. They can just enjoy the driving experience while we take care of everything else,” says Matti Hänninen, CEO of 24Rent.
Car sharing in itself is ecological, but 24Rent and Kojamo have developed this service even further. To the delight of the people on the move in Helsinki, Tampere and Hämeenlinna, there are new, increasingly eco-friendly cars in these cities: self-charging Toyota Auris hybrid models, which enable Lumo residents to drive up to half of their journey with pure electric power.
The objective in the near future is to make electric cars available to Lumo residents in other locations in Finland as well.
