VVO Group has awarded sponsorships under the Virkeä programme to 25 promising athletes in the application round for spring 2016. The sponsorship grant may be awarded to a young athlete of 12–20 years of age who has shown commitment and desire to succeed in his/her sport. A total of 225 grants have been awarded since 2012.
The Virkeä programme promotes exercise and healthy lifestyles among young people in various ways, including the awarding of sponsorships grants twice per year. In order to be eligible for the grant, the athlete must have a track record going back several years at the club level. Grants are awarded for both team and individual sports. Applications are accepted from athletes who need financial support to help them continue their pursuit of sporting success.
VVO Group has great faith in young people and works with young people in various ways, including cooperation with educational institutes and providing opportunities for thesis writing. The goal is to help young people achieve their goals as part of building a better future. The Virkeä programme is part of the company’s responsibility efforts related to young people and the creation of social value.
