Posti’s SmartPost parcel service launched at first Lumo home

Posti and Lumo Homes have joined forces to bring a state-of-the-art parcel service directly to customers. Residents at Hernesaarenkatu 17 in Helsinki have been able to use the SmartPost service since February. SmartPost is Posti’s new service for sending and receiving parcels and accessing other services using parcel collection points located in communal areas within apartment buildings.

Online retail services and the digital revolution are changing how people shop and manage their lives. SmartPost is a new service for sending and receiving parcels and returning items bought online. As it is not limited to a single venue and set opening hours, it is flexible and user-friendly. The residents at Hernesaarenkatu have immediately embraced the new service.

“The first SmartPost users have received the service enthusiastically. The residents are delighted that parcels are now delivered directly to their own building. This is exactly the sort of service that will help make our customers’ lives that little bit easier and the sort of service that we want to continue to offer in future,” said Pia Jaakola, Unit Director at VVO Group.

High-quality parcel deliveries

The SmartPost service delivers parcels to secure pick-up points located in communal areas within residential buildings. Recipients are sent details of the pick-up box number and a PIN code by text message. Separate postboxes are provided for sending mail, which can be used for pre-paid parcels, letters and cards. Smaller postal items, such as letters, will continue to be delivered directly to the recipients’ homes.

Toni Laaksonen, Vice President, Parcel Services at Posti is delighted for the Lumo residents.

“This service is something completely new and unique, and a first for Finland. There is also further potential to offer recycling, maintenance and laundry services as part of the SmartPost concept in future. We have created this service in response to the feedback we have received from consumers,” Laaksonen added.

VVO Group plc offers rental apartments and housing services in Finnish growth centres. The vision of the housing investment company is to be a pioneer in housing and the customer’s number-one choice.
