Lumo Kodit has agreed on the construction of 113 apartments in Puotila, Helsinki

Lumo Kodit Oy has agreed with Jalon Oy on the construction of 113 new apartments at Klaavuntie 11, the site of the old shopping centre in Puotila, Helsinki. The demolition of the old shopping centre will be carried out in a sustainable way: the aim is to recycle at least 70% of the waste mass of the property and to collect movable material for recovery. In addition to the new apartments, there will be built a large number of business premises available for rent, including premises for shops, restaurants and other services at the site of the old shopping centre.

Kojamo will carry out a demolition in accordance with the Green Deal commitment for the first time at Klaavuntie 11 in Puotila, Helsinki. The aim is to recycle as much of the property’s waste as possible and to collect movable material for recovery. The material recovery target is at least 70% of all non-hazardous waste. The Green Deal is a green development programme launched by the European Commission to help the EU achieve climate neutrality in Europe by 2050. When completed, Klaavuntie 11 will be a building with Energy Class A and an E figure of 75.

The Lumo Kodit property will have three stairwells (A, B and C), and it will be 8-storey at its highest point. On the street level, there will be 1,500 floor sq.m of business premises available for rent, including premises for shops, restaurants and other services. Lease negotiations for the business premises are underway.

On the top floor of the building, there will be sauna facilities, a communal space and a rooftop terrace. Residents can also use the building’s gym and the shared vehicles located nearby. A wide range of services are also available on request through the My Lumo online service.

Among the high-quality apartments will be singles as well as two-room, three-room and four-room apartments. Klaavuntie 11 is an ideal place to live for a family with children, for example. There are day care centres, a primary school, a lower secondary school and an upper secondary school in the area. Within a short distance, there are also plenty of hobby opportunities as well as the Rusthollari playground.

The public transport links are excellent. The Puotila metro station is only 300 metres away from the property. The Helsinki city centre can be reached by metro in just over 15 minutes and Itäkeskus in just a couple of minutes. Several bus lines go along the Itäväylä highway. Thanks to the smooth transport links, the location and the apartments are also well-suited to those relocating for work or studies.

Klaavuntie 11 is only about a kilometre away from Itäkeskus and its wide range of services, including shops, a public indoor pool and a library. In addition, the location is excellent for outdoor activities: there is a large sports park in Myllypuro and allotments next to the Puotinkylä Manor. The Puotila beach has sea views to the Vartiokylänlahti bay and Vuosaari, from where you can walk along the shore to Herttoniemi.

The project will begin at the end of 2021 and it will be completed in the summer of 2024.
