Improving the energy efficiency of Lumo buildings with geothermal heating

Kojamo is partnering with LeaseGreen to carry out energy renovations at two Lumo buildings in Helsinki. The first project is already under way and will be completed in September 2025. Switching to geothermal heat reduces the operating costs of properties and supports the development of sustainable urban living.

In collaboration with LeaseGreen, Kojamo is installing a geothermal heating system and heat recovery in two Lumo buildings. Together, geothermal heating and heat recovery improve the energy efficiency of the property and reduce its heating costs.

The first project, which is taking place at Viljatie 7, is progressing quickly and will be completed by the end of September 2025. The necessary equipment has already been installed and the construction work has been completed. All that remains is electrical work and putting the finishing touches on automation before the deployment of the system.

The service package also includes continuous monitoring and maintenance of the properties as part of the overall implementation, which ensures that the systems will operate flawlessly and energy efficiency will be maintained in the long term.

LeaseGreen is a natural choice of partner for Kojamo. Kojamo’s mission is to create better urban living, and LeaseGreen contributes its expertise to the promotion of energy efficiency and environmentally friendly solutions in properties. LeaseGreen is one of the most experienced operators in its industry, having worked on improving the energy efficiency of properties since 2013.

“Our cooperation has been very smooth and straightforward. We are pleased to see that Kojamo has full confidence in our expertise. The current project is progressing efficiently and on schedule,” says Johannes Kilpeläinen, Purchasing Manager at LeaseGreen.

“We have been discussing cooperation with LeaseGreen on energy efficiency improvement projects for several years now, and we are delighted to have finally started the cooperation. The project on Viljatie has gone smoothly from the start, and it will be completed in time for the start of the heating season,” says Pasi Kujansuu, Unit Director, Property Services at Kojamo.

The two companies have agreed that their next collaborative geothermal heat project will be implemented in Helsinki in 2026. Following the completion of the projects, Kojamo will have 15 Lumo buildings with geothermal heating in the capital region and Turku.
